Scripture
Mark 10:43–45
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant… For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Reflection
The story of Jesus doesn’t stop with moments with Him. It always moves outward into moments for others.
From His birth forward, Jesus gathered people — not so they could keep the moment to themselves, but so they could carry it into the lives of others. Every person in the Christmas story served in a different way, yet all served for the same purpose: that the Savior would be known.
Jesus Himself modeled this. He didn’t arrive demanding comfort or recognition. He came serving, sacrificing, and surrendering to the will of the Father. His life reminds us that true greatness is found in humble obedience and love poured out for others.
When we serve, even in small and unseen ways, we reflect the heart of Christ.
Application
Ask yourself today:
Serving might look like helping a neighbor, offering a meal, volunteering at church, or simply noticing someone who feels overlooked. Pray for eyes to see opportunities and a heart willing to respond.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for serving me first. Help me follow Your example with humility and joy. Show me where I can step in, help, and love others this Christmas. Use my willingness to serve to create moments that point people to You. Amen.
