Scripture: Ephesians 4:22–24 – “You took off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires; you are being renewed in the spirit of your minds; you put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.”

Devotional Thought:

Pollution is everywhere. We have air pollution, noise pollution, and even light pollution. Each makes it harder to experience life as it was designed—clean air, quiet reflection, or the beauty of the night sky.

The same is true of our minds. Content pollution fills us with noise: political shouting, constant news alerts, endless entertainment, and shallow distractions. Left unchecked, this pollution clouds our minds, dulls our focus, and distances us from God.

Paul reminds us that the old life—corrupted and polluted by deceitful desires—must be put off, and a new life in Christ must be put on. That means we don’t just avoid sin—we filter distractions, temptations, and digital overload that keep us from hearing God clearly.

When we filter out the cultural pollution, we open space for renewal. Just like a water filter cleans impurities so the water is safe to drink, God’s Word and Spirit cleanse our thoughts so that our lives can be holy and set apart.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What kinds of “content pollution” (digital, relational, cultural) most easily cloud your mind?
  2. What would it look like to set up “filters” in your daily life—boundaries, limits, or habits—that help you hear God more clearly?

Prayer:

Father, I confess that my mind is often polluted with distractions and desires that pull me away from You. Cleanse my thoughts. Renew my spirit. Help me to put off the old self and put on the new self, created in Your likeness. May my

heart and mind be fixed on what is good, true, and pure. Amen.

Daily Practice:

Today, identify one source of pollution in your life (a toxic app, endless news feed, or unhealthy show). Set a filter: delete it, mute it, or limit it. Replace that space with 15 minutes of Scripture reading or journaling.
