Scripture:
John 20:27 - "Then He said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here and observe My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Don’t be an unbeliever, but a believer.'"

Devotional:
Thomas’s doubt didn’t disqualify him from being a disciple. When Jesus appeared to the other disciples after His resurrection, Thomas wasn’t there. As they excitedly told him about seeing the risen Lord, Thomas expressed his doubt, famously saying, “Unless I see…I will never believe.”

What is remarkable about this story is not just Thomas’s doubt, but how Jesus responded to it. Eight days later, Jesus appeared again and specifically addressed Thomas, inviting him to touch His wounds and believe. Jesus didn’t shame Thomas for his doubt. Instead, He met Thomas where he was, providing the evidence Thomas needed to strengthen his faith.

We all have moments of doubt, whether it’s doubting God’s goodness, His plans, or even His existence. But like Thomas, we don’t have to stay in our doubt. Jesus is willing to meet us in those moments, offering us His presence and His peace. Doubt can be a gateway to deeper faith if we are willing to bring it to Jesus and allow Him to guide us through it.

Reflection Questions:
How does Jesus’s response to Thomas encourage you when you face doubt?
What doubts have you been wrestling with, and how can you bring them to Jesus?
How can doubt lead to a deeper faith when handled with honesty and openness?

Application:
If you are experiencing doubt, take time to bring those feelings to Jesus in prayer. Be honest about what you’re struggling with and ask Him to strengthen your faith. Find scriptures that speak to your doubts and meditate on them, trusting that God will meet you where you are.

Closing Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my moments of doubt. Help me to be honest about my struggles and to bring them to You, trusting that You will guide me through them. Strengthen my faith and help me to believe even when I can’t see. In Your name, Amen.
