Scripture:

Genesis 1:26–27 – “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.’ So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female.”

Devotional Thought:

From the very beginning, God stamped His image upon humanity.

You were created to be a living reflection of the Creator — a visible reminder of His invisible glory.

To “bear God’s image” means more than just looking like Him — it means living like Him.

It’s about representing His character — His love, truth, compassion, and creativity — to the world around us.

But sin distorts that image.

Like a mirror smudged with fingerprints and cracks, our reflection of God becomes blurred and broken.

Instead of reflecting His holiness, we reflect our selfishness. Instead of His light, we spread shadows of pride, envy, and idolatry.

And in our digital world, this distortion shows up everywhere — on our screens, in our feeds, and even in our conversations.

Our devices have become mirrors of our hearts.

They display what we value, what we crave, and what we worship.

If someone scrolled through your life — your posts, comments, search history, or what you share — what image would they see?

Would it be the image of your Creator or the image of your culture?

The truth is sobering, but also full of hope:

While sin distorts the image of God in us, Jesus restores it.

Through His death and resurrection, He not only forgave your sin — He restored your purpose: to once again bear God’s image on earth.

You were made to reflect His light.

You were made to reveal His nature.

You were made to represent His love.

Today, begin by asking:

Does my life — both online and offline — reflect the One who created me?

Reflection Questions:

  1. What “image” am I projecting to others through my actions, words, and online presence?
  2. Where has sin distorted or dimmed the reflection of God’s image in my life?
  3. What would it look like for me to live today as an image bearer of God instead of a mirror of culture?

Prayer:

Father, You created me in Your image — to reflect Your goodness, beauty, and truth.

Forgive me for the ways I’ve distorted that image through sin or selfishness.

Restore me today through Jesus. Clean my heart and renew my mind so that my life reflects You clearly.

Let my words, habits, and presence reveal Your glory to the world around me. Amen.

Daily Practice:

Take time today to look at one digital space where you “show up” — your social media, text messages, or browsing habits.

Ask honestly: Does this reflect God’s image or my own desires?

Choose one small way to make that reflection clearer — post encouragement, offer prayer, or simply unplug and spend time with God.
