HOLY IN SPIRIT

Scripture

John 21:19 — After saying this, He told him, “Follow Me!”

Matthew 4:19 — “Follow Me,” He told them, “and I will make you fish for people.”

Slow Read (The Same Call, Deeper Meaning)

Read John 21:19 three times slowly.

  • First reading: Notice the simplicity of Jesus’ command.
  • Second reading: Remember this is Peter’s second calling after failure.
  • Third reading: Sit with the words:
    “Follow Me.”

Remain silent for one full minute. Let the call feel present—not historical.

Heart Questions

  • Where is Jesus asking me to follow Him right now?
  • Have I separated following Jesus from helping others follow Him?
  • Who is growing spiritually because I am following faithfully?

Let the Spirit connect obedience with influence.

Spiritual Insight

Peter’s journey comes full circle. Years earlier, beside another shoreline, Jesus called him to follow. Peter followed imperfectly—believing, failing, repenting, and being restored. Now Jesus repeats the same command, but everything has changed. Following Jesus is no longer merely personal formation; it becomes spiritual multiplication. Peter will now live—and eventually die—strengthening others. Discipleship reaches maturity when following Jesus naturally leads to feeding others. The assurance of John 21 is this: restored people become disciple-makers. The progression never ends—it reproduces. Faith that follows Jesus begins to invite others to follow Him too.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

You called Peter again, and You call me today.

Thank You that following You is not reserved for the perfect but offered to the restored.

Help my life reflect Your grace so others may see and follow You.

Use my strengths, grow my weaknesses, and let my obedience help nourish others.

I choose again today to follow You and help others do the same.

Amen.
