Scripture:

2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.”

Devotional Thought:

God’s patience is not passive—it’s purposeful.

So many of us read this verse and think it’s simply about time. About Jesus not coming back yet. But it’s not just about a delay—it’s about a divine pause.

Why?

Because He wants more people to come home. To repent. To know Jesus.

That changes the way we see today. It’s not just “one more day” that Jesus hasn’t returned. It’s one more day for someone to be saved. One more chance. One more open door.

And here’s the thing—you might be the one who introduces someone to the truth.

That means God’s patience isn’t just His character—it’s your calling.

His patience creates your purpose: to share the signs of salvation with someone still far from God.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Do I see God’s delay as a problem—or a mission?
  2. Who in my life is still far from Jesus that I’ve stopped praying for?
  3. How can I join in God’s patient pursuit today?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for being patient—not just with me, but with the world. Help me not waste the time You’ve given. Open my eyes to those who need You. Give me boldness to speak and love to share. Use me to be part of someone’s salvation story. Amen.
