Scripture:

Luke 24:46–48 -"The Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead the third day, and repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations… You are witnesses of these things."

Devotional:

The early disciples watched Jesus ascend into heaven. And in that moment, they were tempted to keep staring at the sky.

But heaven interrupted:

"Why do you stand looking up?"

Translation: You’ve got work to do.

Jesus had already told them what came next:

Preach repentance. Share forgiveness. Make disciples.

You are witnesses.

So, what about you?

Are you witnessing—or just watching?

It’s easy to become obsessed with signs, theories, or timelines.

But Jesus never called us to be end-times experts—He called us to be gospel witnesses.

Too many believers spend their time:

  • Predicting the Antichrist instead of proclaiming Christ.
  • Arguing over prophecy instead of inviting people to repentance.
  • Worrying about the end instead of working until it comes.

The real sign that matters?

What are you doing in the meantime?

The world is lost. Billions haven’t heard. And Jesus gave us the mission:

“You will be My witnesses… to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Don't miss your calling. Don’t miss the harvest. Don’t miss the opportunity.

Prayer:

Jesus, I don’t want to waste my life watching and waiting when You’ve called me to go and proclaim. Stir in me a renewed urgency to live on mission. Give me eyes to see the lost around me, and the courage to speak the truth in love. Use me to point people to You—until You return. Amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How are you living out your role as a witness for Jesus?
  2. Is your time spent more on speculation or sharing salvation?
  3. What step can you take today to move from “watching” to “witnessing”?
