Scripture

Matthew 3:5–6

“Then people from Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the vicinity of the Jordan were flocking to him…”

John 1:23

“I am a voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord.”

Reflection

John preached in an obscure place, yet word about him moved quickly. People traveled from cities and villages to hear a man who had nothing polished to offer. No platform. No marketing. No comfort.

Still, the message spread.

John preached it. People shared it. Others came to hear it.

There’s a simple truth tucked inside this: God’s good news moves through people, not programs. Crowds didn’t gather because John was impressive. They gathered because hope was stirring, and those who heard couldn’t keep quiet about it.

This is how God has always worked. Angels announce. Prophets speak. Disciples go. Ordinary people pass along extraordinary news. The gospel multiplies through hearts that are willing to speak.

Application

Think about how you first heard about Jesus. Someone told you — a parent, a friend, a pastor, a co-worker. Someone cared enough to open their mouth.

Now consider:

  • Who has God placed in my life who needs to hear hope?
  • What simple step could I take to help them come closer to Jesus?

A conversation. A prayer. An invitation. A shared story of what God’s done in your life. These small acts can ripple farther than you think.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the people who shared Your truth with me. Give me the same courage and love they had. Let Your message move through me in a natural and honest way. Use my life to help someone else find hope in Jesus. Amen.
