week 1 – adam
AWARENESS IN THE WILDERNESS
The wilderness didn’t begin with a journey—it began with a choice.
Adam was created, placed in the garden, and given everything he needed: provision, protection, purpose, and the presence of God. There was no lack. No confusion. No wandering.
But with one act of disobedience, everything changed.
Sin entered.
The garden was lost.
And humanity was sent into the wilderness.
From that moment on, the human story became a story of wandering—of trying to find what was lost, of feeling that something is off, of living in a world marked by pain, conflict, and separation from God.
This is where every man’s story begins.
But the wilderness is not just something you’re in—it’s something shaping you.
This week is about awareness.
Recognizing how sin, deception, desire, and disobedience pull you further into the wilderness—and how God still pursues you there.
Before you can move forward, you have to see clearly:
Why am I here?
What led me here?
Am I drifting—or am I being shaped?
The wilderness will shape you.
The question is how.

AWARENESS IN THE WILDERNESS
Learn to recognize how sin, deception, desire, and disobedience lead you into the wilderness and keep you wandering there.
Identify where you are, what led you there, and how it is shaping you.
reminder #1 – sin leads to the wilderness
Read Scripture: Genesis 2:15–17; 3:6–7; 3:23
(God gives Adam a clear command in the garden. Adam and Eve choose disobedience, and as a result, they are sent out of the garden and into the wilderness.)
Reality:
The wilderness begins with sin. Adam was placed in a perfect environment with everything he needed and one clear command. But when that command was broken, everything changed. The garden was lost, and the wilderness became reality. This is where every man’s story begins. The wilderness isn’t random—it’s the result of turning away from God. And if sin isn’t dealt with, it won’t just lead you into the wilderness—it will keep you there.
Response:
Where do you see the effects of sin shaping your life right now?
What are you overlooking or excusing?
Are you confronting it—or ignoring it?
Reaction:
Identify the sin immediately—be specific. Confess it to God right now.
Take one step to remove access to it today. Don’t manage sin—cut it off early.
Reinforcement: Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
SIN IS REAL—AND IT MUST BE DEALT WITH.
2x2 Check:
Tell your 2x2 one area where you are choosing to confront sin instead of ignore it.
