REMINDER #12 – FALSE IDENTITY WILL MISLEAD YOU

Read Scripture: Exodus 2:11–14

(Moses steps in to defend a Hebrew, but when confronted the next day, the question is asked: “Who made you a leader and judge over us?” His actions reveal the tension between who he was raised to be and who he was created to be.)

Reality: You will always act out of who you believe you are. Moses had a God-given calling—but he was still operating from a false identity shaped by Egypt. He tried to lead like an Egyptian—through force and control—when God was calling him to lead as a shepherd. That disconnect led to failure. If your identity is shaped more by your past, your environment, or other people than by God, it will mislead your decisions every time.

Response:

  • What has most shaped how you see yourself?

  • Where do you see yourself reacting from an old or false identity?

  • How is that identity affecting your actions and decisions right now?

Reaction:

Identify the false identity you’ve been operating from. Call it out—don’t ignore it.

Reject it and refuse to let it define your actions today.

Choose to pause and respond differently than you normally would.

Reinforcement: Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

DON’T LET YOUR IDENTITY BE SHAPED BY THE WORLD—LET GOD RESHAPE HOW YOU THINK.

2x2 Check:

Share with your 2x2 one false identity you’re letting go of—and ask them to hold you to it.
