REMINDER #17 – PRESSURE REVEALS WHAT YOU TRUST FOR PROVISION
Read Scripture: 1 Samuel 21:1–6; 22:18–22
(David, on the run and in need, goes to Nob for bread and receives help from the priest Ahimelech. Later, Saul responds in rage and orders the killing of the priests—leaving David carrying the weight of what happened.)
Reality: The wilderness exposes what you trust when you feel lack, pressure, and urgency. David was hungry, vulnerable, and trying to survive—but what followed showed him that even in survival mode, decisions still carry weight. The pressure to provide for yourself can push you toward fear, panic, or control. And while not everything is your fault, the wilderness will teach you that leadership, responsibility, and trust in God all matter—even when you’re just trying to make it through. Provision pressure reveals whether you will trust God… or try to force outcomes on your own.
Response:
Where do you feel pressure right now to provide, fix, or control something?
Are you trusting God in that area—or reacting out of fear?
How might your current decisions carry weight beyond just you?
Reaction: Pause before reacting out of pressure. Refuse to let fear drive your decisions.
Bring your needs honestly before God instead of forcing solutions. Choose trust in God’s provision over control.
Reinforcement: Matthew 6:31–33 – “Don’t worry… your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God…”
GOD KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED—TRUST HIM INSTEAD OF STRIVING IN FEAR.
2x2 Check: Tell your 2x2 where you feel pressure—and commit to trusting God instead of forcing a solution.
