REMINDER #23 – DON’T TRADE WORSHIP FOR WHAT YOU WANT

Read Scripture: Matthew 4:8–10

(Satan offers Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship. Jesus refuses, choosing to worship God alone rather than take a shortcut to power.)

Reality: The wilderness will tempt you to gain what you want without surrendering to God. Jesus was offered influence, authority, and recognition—without the cross. A shortcut to everything He came for. But it required misplaced worship. And that’s the real issue—what you worship will shape what you pursue. The enemy doesn’t always tempt you with something evil—he offers something good, just out of order. Power without surrender. Success without obedience. Recognition without sacrifice. But anything gained outside of worshiping God will cost you more than it gives you.

Response:

  • What are you currently chasing—success, recognition, control, approval?

  • Is there anything you’re prioritizing over your relationship with God?

  • Where might you be tempted to take a shortcut instead of walking in obedience?

Reaction: Examine what you are truly pursuing. Refuse shortcuts that compromise your relationship with God. Re-center your life around worship and obedience. Choose surrender over success.

Reinforcement: Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”

WHEN GOD IS FIRST, EVERYTHING ELSE FALLS INTO PLACE.
