reminder #4 – disobedience always has a cost

Read Scripture: Genesis 3:6–7

(Eve takes the fruit and eats. Adam follows. Immediately their eyes are opened, shame enters, and they attempt to cover themselves.)

Reality: Sin always promises more than it delivers—and costs more than you expect. In the moment, disobedience looks small, justifiable, even beneficial. But the outcome is immediate: shame, exposure, and separation. Adam and Eve didn’t gain what they hoped—they lost what they had. That’s how sin works. It convinces you the cost is low and the reward is high. In reality, the cost is always greater than you think.

Response:

  • Where are you being tempted to compromise right now?

  • What are you telling yourself to justify it?

  • What could this cost you if you follow through?

Reaction:

Stop and think through the outcome before you act. Name the real cost—not the imagined benefit. Walk away from the situation immediately. Choose obedience now, not regret later.

Reinforcement: Galatians 6:7 – “Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap.”

WHAT YOU CHOOSE TODAY WILL SHAPE WHAT YOU LIVE WITH TOMORROW.

2x2 Check:

Tell your 2x2 where you’re feeling pressure to compromise—and choose obedience.
