REMINDER #9 – GOD MAY ASK YOU TO SURRENDER WHAT YOU LOVE MOST
Read Scripture: Genesis 22:1–3
(God tests Abraham and calls him to take his son Isaac—the very promise—and offer him as a sacrifice. Abraham responds immediately and begins the journey.)
Reality: Faith is not proven by what you say—it’s proven by what you’re willing to surrender. Isaac wasn’t just Abraham’s son—he was the promise, the hope, the future. And yet God asked for him. In the wilderness, God will often test what you trust most. Not because He wants to take from you, but to reveal what has control over you. Anything you’re unwilling to surrender can quietly take God’s place in your life.
Response:
What are you holding onto most tightly right now?
What would be hardest for you to surrender if God asked?
Has anything become more important to you than obedience to God?
Reaction:
Open your hands—mentally release what you’re holding onto. Tell God, “It belongs to You.”
Choose obedience before understanding the outcome.
Surrender it in your heart before God asks for it in reality.
Reinforcement: Luke 14:33 – “In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.”
NOTHING YOU HAVE IS YOURS—BE WILLING TO SURRENDER EVERYTHING.
2x2 Check:
