SCRIPTURE GUIDES US
We will challenge each other to daily seek God’s guidance through scripture, and then apply it to our lives.
Psalm 119:9-11,34-35,59,97-98,101,105
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word. 10 I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands. 11 I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You.
34 Help me understand Your instruction, and I will obey it and follow it with all my heart. 35 Help me stay on the path of Your commands…
59 I thought about my ways and turned my steps back to Your decrees.
97 How I love Your instruction! It is my meditation all day long. 98 Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are always with me.
101 I have kept my feet from every evil path to follow Your word.
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.
2 Timothy 3:16-17- 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
SCRIPTURE GUIDES US, PROTECTS US & REMINDS US TO BE HOLY (SET APART).
Set apart from worldly culture
- Romans 12:2 - Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world..
- 1 John 2:15 - Do not love the world or the things that belong to the world.
Set apart from the desires of our flesh.
- Galatians 5:16,19-21 - 16 I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar.
Set apart by setting our mind on things above.
- Colossians 3:2 - Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth.
- 1 Peter 1:14-16 - 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. 15 But as the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; 16 for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.
SCRIPTURES GUIDES US INTO THE LIKENESS & FULLNESS OF CHRIST.
1 John 2:3-6 - This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping His commands. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” yet doesn’t keep His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God is perfected. This is how we know we are in Him: 6 The one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked.
TOO OFTEN MISINTERPRETED SCRIPTURE GUIDES US BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T TAKEN THE TIME TO STUDY IT & KNOW IT OURSELVES.
THERE MUST BE A BALANCE OF INDIVIUDAL STUDY, PASTORAL PREACHING, & COMMUNITY DISCUSSION.
Acts 17:11 - The people welcomed the message with eagerness AND examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
ALWAYS CHECK THE VALIDITY OF SOMEONE’S TEACHING ON SCRIPTURE WITH SCRIPTURE.
EQUIP ONE ANOTHER
We will never lose sight of equipping one another through prayer, worship, scripture, accountability, groups, serving and more. We will encourage one another to continue taking next steps in our walk with Christ and in our leadership.
EDIFICATION IN THE CHURCH, PRODUCES MULTIPLICATION OF THE CHURCH
Acts 2:42, 47 - they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers.
47 And every day the Lord added to them those who were being saved.
Hebrews 10:24-25 - Let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, 25 not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
BEING EQUIPPED & EQUIPPING OTHERS REQUIRES PARTICIPATING IN THE LOCAL CHURCH NOT MERELY SPECTATING.
YOU WILL NOT GROW IN SCRIPTURE, OR EQUIPPING OTHERS WITHOUT CHALLENGING YOURSELF OR BEING CHALLENGE BY OTHERS.
