HOLY IN SPIRIT

Scripture

John 1:43 - “Jesus found Philip and told him, ‘Follow Me.’”

Proverbs 16:9 - “A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.”

Slow Read (Sit With the Text)

Read John 1:43 three times, slowly.

  • First reading: Notice who initiates the relationship.

  • Second reading: Notice how much explanation Jesus gives.

  • Third reading: Imagine Jesus standing in front of you today, saying the same words.

Sit in silence for one full minute. Let the simplicity of the command settle.

Heart Questions

  • Where am I waiting for more information when Jesus is asking for obedience?

  • What would it look like for my daily life to actually move in His direction?

  • What am I afraid I might lose if I truly follow?

Don’t rush to justify your answers. Let them tell the truth.

Spiritual Insight

Jesus does not say: “Understand Me.” “Figure it all out.” “Fix your life first.” He says, “Follow Me.”

In Jewish discipleship, following a rabbi meant:

  • Reordering your schedule

  • Re-centering your priorities

  • Restructuring your life around his life

Obedience wasn’t the result of belief. Belief grew inside obedience. We often reverse that order.

Prayer

Jesus, I confess that I often want clarity before commitment and certainty before surrender.

But today, I hear Your voice again: “Follow Me.” Not tomorrow. Not once things make sense. Today. Show me where my feet are resisting Your lead. Give me the courage to trust that where You go is always life-giving, even when I don’t yet understand the path. I choose to follow You today. Amen.

WHOLE IN MIND

One Obedient Step

Take 2 minutes and answer this honestly:

What is one small step of obedience God may be inviting me to take today?”

Not the whole plan. Not the five-year vision. Just the next step.

HEALTHY IN BODY

The Dust of the Rabbi — Daily Walk: Take a 10–15 minute walk.

As you walk, imagine staying close behind Jesus— matching His pace, not rushing ahead, not lagging behind.

Quietly repeat: Where You go, I will follow.”

Closing Thought

Following Jesus doesn’t remove uncertainty. It redefines direction.

You don’t need the whole map.

You just need to stay close enough to be covered in His dust.
