ASSURANCE OF DENIAL
John 13:36-38 - 36 “Lord,” Simon Peter said to Him, “where are You going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later.” 37 “Lord,” Peter asked, “why can’t I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You!” 38 Jesus replied, “Will you lay down your life for Me? I assure you: A rooster will not crow until you have denied Me three times.
SURETY OF DESERTION
Mark 14:27-31, 50 - 27 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will run away, because it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered. 28 But after I have been resurrected, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.” 29 Peter told Him, “Even if everyone runs away, I will certainly not!” 30 “I assure you,” Jesus said to him, “today, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times!” 31 But he kept insisting, “If I have to die with You, I will never deny You!” And they all said the same thing.
50 Then they all deserted Him and ran away.
FOLLOWING & SERVING ≠ BELIEVING & YIELDING

TURNING TO FOLLOW SIN IS REBELLION AGAINST FOLLOWING JESUS.
THE VERY THING WE ARE MOST CONFIDENT ABOUT MAY BECOME THE VERY THING THE ENEMY USES TO LEAD US INTO SIN.
1 Corinthians 10:12 - So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.
OUR REBELLION (NO MATTER THE SEVERITY) WILL REQUIRE REPENTANCE.
Matthew 4:17 - “Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!”
REPENT AND FOLLOW ME.
REPENT AND BELIEVE IN ME.
REPENT AND HEAR AND OBEY ME.
REPENT AND HUNGER FOR ME.
REPENT AND YIELD TO ME.
REPENT AND SERVE ME.
THE ACT OF FOLLOWING JESUS IS AN ACT OF DAILY REPENTANCE.
