John 14:12 - I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do.

John 13:1,4-5 - Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that His hour had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. 4 So He got up from supper, laid aside His robe, took a towel, and tied it around Himself. 5 Next, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel tied around Him.

John 13:12-16 - 12 When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His robe, He reclined again and said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord. This is well said, for I am. 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example that you also should do just as I have done for you. 16 “I assure you: A servant is not greater than his master, and a messenger is not greater than the one who sent him.

Matthew 20:25-28 - But Jesus called them over and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles dominate them, and the men of high position exercise power over them. 26 It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave; 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life—a ransom for many.”

John 14:13–14 - “Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”

John 15:16 - “I appointed you that you should go out and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.”

DOES OUR ASKING...

...BRING GOD GLORY OR US COMFORT?

...ALIGN WITH GOD’S WILL OR OUR DESIRES?

...FURTHER GOD’S KINGDOM OR OUR OWN?

...LEAD TO SHARING & SERVING OR KEEP US FROM IT?

...CONSIDER OTHERS OR JUST OURSELVES?

JOHN’S OUTLINE OF JESUS’ SERVANT LEADERSHIP :

JOHN 13 SHOWS THE SON’S POSTURE (THROUGH HUMILITY).

JOHN 14:12 SHOWS THE SPIRIT’S POWER (THROUGH WORKS).

JOHN 14:13–14 SHOWS THE FATHER’S PROVISION (THROUGH PRAYER).

JESUS INVITES HIS FOLLOWERS TO SERVE OTHERS WITH A POSTURE OF HUMILITY AND SURRENDER.

Romans 8:14–17 - 14 All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons… 16 The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

WHEN WE YIELD TO GOD’S WILL, HE WILL CALL US INTO HUMBLE SERVING.
