HOLY IN SPIRIT
Scripture
Matthew 5:6 - “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
John 6:63 - “The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”
Jeremiah 15:16 - “Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words became a delight to me and the joy of my heart.”
Slow Read (Desire & Direction)
Read Matthew 5:6 three times, slowly.
First reading: Notice the promise Jesus gives.
Second reading: Notice who the promise is for—those who hunger.
Third reading: Sit with this phrase: “They will be filled.”
Remain silent for one full minute. Let the Spirit examine your appetite.
Heart Questions
What am I truly hungry for right now?
Where have I tried to satisfy spiritual hunger with temporary things?
Do my daily habits reflect hunger for righteousness—or something else?
Let desire speak honestly.
Spiritual Insight
Hunger is not weakness. Hunger is awareness. Jesus does not bless those who are already full. He blesses those who know they need filling. Righteousness is not earned by effort. It is formed by continual dependence. When you feed on the Word, listen to the Spirit, and trust the Son— your appetite begins to change. You stop craving what cannot last and begin desiring what gives life.
Prayer
Jesus, I confess that my hunger is often divided. I crave comfort, control, and certainty more than righteousness. Today, I ask You to reshape my appetite. Teach me to desire what is holy, to seek what is eternal, and to be satisfied in You alone. Fill me—not with less struggle, but with deeper righteousness. You are enough. Amen.
