HOLY IN SPIRIT

Scripture

John 1:50 - “Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.

Isaiah 55:8–9 - “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways. This is the Lord’s declaration. For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Slow Read (Sit With the Text)

Read John 1:50 slowly two times.

  • First reading: Notice what Nathanael believes because of.

  • Second reading: Notice what Jesus promises beyond that moment.

Now sit quietly and repeat: You will see greater things than this.”

Ask the Spirit to reshape what you expect those “greater things” to be.

Heart Questions

  • What am I expecting Jesus to do that might limit what He actually wants to do?

  • Where have unmet expectations quietly turned into disappointment or doubt?

  • If God’s definition of “greater” is different than mine, am I willing to trust Him anyway?

Let these questions search you—not accuse you.

Spiritual Insight

Nathanael believes because of a personal, impressive sign. Jesus doesn’t dismiss that faith—but He doesn’t let it define the journey. Greater things” were not: political victory,.personal comfort. Immediate clarity.
They were: the cross. the resurrection. reconciliation between heaven and earth.

God often does more than we ask—but rarely in the way we expect.

Prayer

Jesus, I confess that I often define “greater” as easier, faster, or clearer. I bring You my expectations—spoken and unspoken. Where they are too small, expand them. Where they are misplaced, realign them. Where they are broken, redeem them. Teach me to trust that what You are doing in me s greater than what I wish You would do for me. I choose to follow You, even when the outcome surprises me. Amen.

WHOLE IN MIND

Redefine “Greater”

Take 2 minutes and finish this sentence:

If God’s work in me is greater than my circumstances, then today I can…”

Let your expectations shift from outcome to obedience.

HEALTHY IN BODY

The Dust of the Rabbi — Daily Walk: Take your 10–15 minute walk.

As you walk, thank God—out loud or silently—for one way He may be working beneath the surface, even if you can’t yet see it.

Closing Thought

Greater things don’t always look impressive at first.

They often look like trust, patience, obedience, and surrender.

But they always lead somewhere eternal.
