Slave of Jesus

Romans 7:21-25 - So I discover this principle: When I want to do what is good, evil is with me. 22 For in my inner self I joyfully agree with God’s law. 23 But I see a different law in the parts of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and taking me prisoner to the law of sin in the parts of my body. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this dying body? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I myself am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh, to the law of sin.

Jude 1 - Jude, a slave of Jesus Christ and a brother of James

James 1:1 - James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ

Romans 1:1 - Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and singled out for God’s good news.
Philippians 1:1 - Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus:
2 Peter 1:1 - Simeon Peter, a slave and an apostle of Jesus Christ
Revelation 1:1 - The revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave Him to show His slaves what must quickly take place. He sent it and signified it through His angel to His slave John.

Galatians 1:10 - For am I now trying to win the favor of people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ.
Acts 4:29 - And now, Lord, consider their threats, and grant that Your slaves may speak Your message with complete boldness,
Ephesians 6:6 - Don’t work only while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart.
1 Peter 2:16 - As God’s slaves, live as free people, but don’t use your freedom as a way to conceal evil.

Slave = Doulos
-one who gives himself up to another's will those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing his cause among men
-devoted to another to the disregard of one's own interests

Matthew 20:26-27 - On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave

Romans 6:16-22 - Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey—either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But thank God that, although you used to be slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were transferred to, 18 and having been liberated from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. 19 I am using a human analogy because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you offered the parts of yourselves as slaves to moral impurity, and to greater and greater lawlessness, so now offer them as slaves to righteousness, which results in sanctification. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free from allegiance to righteousness. 21 So what fruit was produced then from the things you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification—and the end is eternal life!

Galatians 5:19-21 - It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - You are not your own, for you were bought at a price.

TO FIGHT AGAINST SIN, OUR HEART AND MIND NEED TO BE FULLY SURRENDERED TO THE WORD THROUGH THE SPIRIT.

OUR HEART & MIND BECOME SLAVES TO GOD/JESUS/RIGHTEOUSNESS WHEN WE SURRENDER OUR PURSUITS & DESIRES TO HIS WILL.

Ephesians 6:6 - but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart.
Romans 6:25 - with my mind I myself am a slave to the law of God.

PROMISCUOUS GRACE SUBMITS THE HEART TO JESUS' LOVE BUT THE MIND CONTINUES IN SUBMISSION TO SIN.

OOUR SANCTIFICATION REQUIRES FULL SUBMISSION OF HEART & MIND TO THE LOVE OF CHRIST &THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST.

Romans 8:14-17 - All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!”16 The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, 17 and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and coheirs with Christ—seeing that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

Philippians 2:5-11 - Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. 7 Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, 8 He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross. 9 For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow—of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth—11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
