ABBA (אַבָּא, abba'). The Aramaic word for “father.”
- "It denotes childlike intimacy and trust."
- "informal term that a child would be privileged to use with his own father."
- Found 3 Times in New Testament Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6; Mark 14:36
- Practice begun by Jesus to address God.

Romans 8:14-16 - All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons. 15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children,

2 Corinthians 6:18 - I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty.

GOD AS ABBA (FATHER) LOVES US UNCONDITIONALLY.

GOD AS ABBA (FATHER) DISCIPLINES US AFFECTIONATELY.

JESUS LIVED A LIFE OF DISCIPLINE & OBEDIENCE PERFECTLY FOLLOWING ABBA FATHER'S WILL & WORD.

Mark 14:36 - And {Jesus} said, “Abba, Father! All things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”

GOD'S LOVE IS BEST SHOWCASED IN OUR OBEDIENCE TO LIVE FOR HIM.

Hebrews 12:5-11 - 5 My son, do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly or faint when you are reproved by Him, 6 for the Lord disciplines the one He loves and punishes every son He receives. 7 Endure suffering as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline—which all receive—then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Hebrews 12:5-11 - 9 Furthermore, we had natural fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Shouldn’t we submit even more to the Father of spirits and live?

Hebrews 12:5-11 - 10 For they disciplined us for a short time based on what seemed good to them, but He does it {disciplines} for our benefit, so that we can share His holiness. 11 No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

THE FATHER'S AFFECTIONATE DISCIPLINE YIELDS HOLINESS, PEACE & RIGHTEOUSNESS.

ABBA FATHER'S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS HIS AFFECTIONATE DISCIPLINE.
