Unearned Gift of Grace - Christmas at Kairos 2025

WHAT WE WISH FOR OFTEN PALES IN COMPARISON TO WHAT GOD GIVES.

OFTEN WE WISH FOR TEMPORARY RELIEF, BUT WHAT GOD’S PROVIDES CARRIES ETERNAL PURPOSE.

Romans 10:1–4 - “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation. I can testify about them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. Because they disregarded the righteousness from God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted themselves to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”

Romans 11:6 - … if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.”

Matthew 19:16–17 - “Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?” “Why do you ask Me about what is good?” He said to him. “There is only One who is good.”

GOD’S GRACE ISN’T CONTINGENT ON OUR BEHAVIOR.

Romans 9:15–16 - “I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” “So then, it does not depend on human will or effort, but on God who shows mercy.”

Exodus 33:19 - “I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

GRACE = RECEIVING WHAT WE DO NOT DESERVE

MERCY = NOT RECEIVING WHAT WE DO DESERVE

Psalm 103:8,10 - 8The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and rich in faithful love…

10 He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve or repaid us according to our offenses.”

2 Corinthians 5:19 & 21 - 19 “In Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them…

21 He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

WE DON’T HAVE TO GET BETTER TO RECEIVE GRACE — WE RECEIVE GRACE, AND GOD MAKES US RIGHTEOUS.
