Scripture:
Genesis 22:2-3
“Take your son,” He said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering…”
“So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took…his son Isaac.”
Devotional:
When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, it was an unthinkable request. Isaac represented everything Abraham waited for—God’s promise, his future, his legacy. Yet Abraham’s response was immediate obedience. He didn’t delay. He didn’t negotiate. He got up early and prepared to do exactly what God asked.
Abraham’s obedience wasn’t merely in words—it was action-oriented. He personally saddled the donkey, prepared the wood, and journeyed toward the mountain. His willingness to obey was total, leaving no room for misunderstanding or doubt.
God often asks for our obedience in ways that challenge our comfort, logic, or desires. But it's in complete obedience—especially when it's difficult—that our faith deepens, and God's purposes become clearer.
Is there something God is asking you to do that you’ve been resisting? Obedience to God isn't just agreeing with Him intellectually—it’s following through in action, even when the cost feels high.
Questions for Reflection:
Prayer:
Father, give me courage and faith to obey You fully and immediately, even when it challenges my comfort or understanding. Remove my hesitation and fear, replacing them with a confident trust in Your goodness and provision. In Jesus' name, amen.
Daily Application:
Identify a specific act of obedience you’ve delayed. Commit to taking one concrete step toward obedience today—no matter how small it may seem.
