Scripture:
Genesis 41:14, 16
"Then Pharaoh sent for Joseph... Pharaoh said to Joseph, 'I have had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said about you that you can hear a dream and interpret it.' 'I am not able to,' Joseph answered Pharaoh. 'It is God who will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.'"
Devotional:
After years of being forgotten, Joseph is finally remembered. But notice what he says when Pharaoh credits him with the ability to interpret dreams: "I am not able to." What a shift from the teenager who once bragged about his dreams to his brothers.
Joseph learned in the pit what he couldn’t learn in the palace. The dream was never about his greatness. It was about God's glory.
God didn’t just restore Joseph—He refined him. Joseph stands before Pharaoh, humble and dependent. He doesn’t grab the spotlight. He gives it to God. And that’s what unlocks the next part of his story.
God is not looking for the most talented, impressive, or put-together. He’s looking for someone who will point the credit back to Him.
Maybe you're still in your pit. Or maybe you're standing before an opportunity that could change everything. Either way, stay humble. Don’t forget who brought you here. The glory isn’t yours. It never was.
Prayer:
God, remind me that every good thing in my life is from You. Keep me humble. Keep me grounded. And when my moment comes—when the door opens—help me to reflect Your glory, not chase my own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
