Theme: When conflict and fatigue collide, let grace drive.

Scripture:

2 Timothy 4:11 – “Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is very useful to me for ministry.”

Ephesians 4:2–3 – “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

Devotional Thought:

If you’ve ever served or worked alongside people for any length of time, you already know — ministry is messy.

People are imperfect. Emotions get tangled. Intentions get misunderstood.

That’s exactly what happened with Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark (Acts 13–15).

They were doing incredible kingdom work — preaching, serving, traveling — and yet they still clashed.

John Mark bailed mid-mission.

Paul felt betrayed.

Barnabas wanted to mediate and give grace.

Conflict broke the team apart.

But grace brought them back together.

Years later, Paul — the same man who once refused to work with Mark again — wrote from prison asking for him by name.

He said, “Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is very useful to me for ministry.”

That’s redemption. That’s grace in the middle of the mess.

Even faithful people get weary.

Even godly people fall short.

But when grace is extended, healing happens — and often, relationships grow stronger than before.

Maybe your struggle bus feels tense right now — full of people with different ideas, passions, or callings.

Maybe you’ve distanced yourself from someone who hurt or disappointed you.

Before you write them off, remember: Paul and Mark’s story didn’t end in disagreement — it ended in reconciliation.

Grace doesn’t erase the struggle; it redeems it.

And often, God’s most powerful work happens when we choose to forgive, stay connected, and move forward together.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Who in your life do you need to extend grace toward — or ask grace from?
  2. How might God be using current conflict to grow patience or humility in you?
  3. What’s one way you can take a small step toward reconciliation this week?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for showing me grace when I fall short.

Help me extend that same grace to others when they fail or frustrate me.

Teach me to be patient in conflict, gentle in disagreement, and humble in correction.

Remind me that unity doesn’t mean perfection — it means perseverance through imperfection.

Use my struggles with others to shape me more into the image of Christ.

Amen.

Daily Practice:

Send a message or write a note to someone who’s been on your heart — maybe someone you’ve had tension with.

You don’t have to rehash the past. Just let them know you’re thankful for them, praying for them, or cheering them on.

Grace heals where pride divides.
