HOLY IN SPIRIT

Deuteronomy 6:4–6 - “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.”

James 1:22 - “But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Slow Read

Read Deuteronomy 6:4–6 three times, slowly.

  • First reading: Emphasize the first word: Hear.

  • Second reading: Notice the movement from hearing → loving → obedience.

  • Third reading: Sit with this phrase: These words… are to be in your heart.”

Remain in silence for one full minute.

Heart Questions

  • What does it look like for me to hear God with my whole self—not just my ears?

  • Where have I separated hearing God from obeying God?

  • What part of my heart, soul, mind, or strength resists obedience?

Let the Spirit reveal—not accuse.

Spiritual Insight

In Hebrew thought, hearing and obeying are inseparable. The word Shema means hear, listen, respond, obey. To say you hear—but do not obey—was to admit you had not truly heard.

Jesus echoes this truth repeatedly: Those who hear live. Those who believe receive life. Those who obey walk in blessing. Obedience is not legalism. It is love made visible.

Prayer

Lord, Teach me to hear You with my whole being. Not selectively. Not conveniently. I confess that I sometimes want to listen without letting Your Word change me. Today, I open my heart fully. Let Your Word sink deep, shape my love, and direct my steps. I want my life to echo the Shema— to hear You, love You, and obey You.

Amen.

WHOLE IN MIND

Name the Loudest Voice

Take 2–3 minutes and reflect:

What competes with God’s Word for my attention and loyalty?”

What you obey reveals what you hear.

HEALTHY IN BODY

The Acted Response

Once today, take 5–10 intentional minutes to act on what you’ve heard.

1. Listen

Ask: Where is God asking me to align my life more fully with His Word?”

2. Act
Take one physical step of obedience.

3. Name It

Say quietly: I heard, and I obeyed.”

Closing Posture

Hearing God is not the goal. Loving Him with your whole life is. And love always obeys.
