As we explore the impact of encountering the light, we turn to the story of Paul, formerly known as Saul. Before his encounter with the light of Jesus, Paul was blinded by sin, particularly the sin of pride. Sin acts as blinders, preventing us from seeing the truth.

Scripture:

Acts 26:14: "I saw a light from heaven brighter than the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me. 14 We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice speaking to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"

2 Corinthians 4:3-4: "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

Sin blinds us to the truth of Jesus, creating a barrier between us and the light. Paul needed to get knocked off his high horse and have his blinders of sinful pride removed to finally see, experience and embrace the truth.
