Scripture:
Genesis 49:8–10
"Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the necks of your enemies; your father’s sons will bow down to you... The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the staff from between his feet until He whose right it is comes and the obedience of the peoples belongs to Him."
Devotional:
Imagine being Judah.
You betrayed your brother. Lied to your father. Carried guilt for decades.
Yet here—at the end of Jacob’s life—Judah is not cursed. He’s blessed.
The blessing wasn't because Judah was perfect.
It was because Judah was repentant.
He chose humility over pride. He chose sacrifice over selfishness. He chose repentance over denial.
Regret could have written Judah’s story.
But redemption rewrote it.
And out of Judah’s line would come the Messiah—the Lion of Judah, Jesus Christ Himself.
The same can be true for you.
Your worst mistakes don’t have to define you.
Your past doesn’t get the final say.
In Christ, regret bows to redemption.
You may not be able to undo what’s been done—but you can surrender it to the One who can redeem it beyond what you ever imagined.
Prayer:
Father, I don’t want regret to have the final word in my life. I choose redemption. I believe You can bring beauty out of the mess I’ve made. Write a new story with my life—one that points to Your grace, mercy, and power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
