Scripture:

Hebrews 10:24–25 – “And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.”

Devotional Thought:

We live in the most “connected” era in history — yet people feel more alone than ever. Notifications light up our phones. Messages flood our inboxes. Our feeds overflow with updates from hundreds of people. And still… our hearts are starving for real connection.

Digital connection gives us the illusion of community without the cost of commitment. It tricks us into believing that likes equal love and followers equal friendship. But that’s not how God designed us.

From the beginning, God said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” (Genesis 2:18) — and that truth extends beyond marriage. We were made for real, embodied, soul-level relationships with others.

The problem isn’t technology itself; it’s that we’ve replaced presence with pixels. God calls His people to gather, not just scroll; to encourage, not just comment; to listen, not just like.

And here’s the truth — when we isolate ourselves, we weaken ourselves. The church was meant to be a family, not a feed.

Reflection Questions:

  1. When was the last time you had a meaningful, face-to-face conversation that fed your soul?
  2. How has digital “connection” replaced real community in your life?
  3. Who could you intentionally meet with this week — not for entertainment, but for encouragement?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for creating me for connection — with You and with others. Forgive me for settling for shallow substitutes when You’ve offered me the beauty of real relationships. Help me to seek genuine community and to encourage others in love and good works. Amen.

Daily Practice:

Today, put your phone down during one meaningful interaction — whether it’s with a friend, co-worker, spouse, or child. Look them in the eye, listen fully, and be present. You’ll be amazed how sacred that space becomes.
