Scripture:
Hebrews 3:13 – “But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.”
Devotional Thought:
Presence is powerful.
It’s what Jesus modeled when He walked among us — touching lepers, sitting with sinners, and comforting the brokenhearted. His ministry wasn’t conducted from a distance; it was lived in proximity.
But in our digital age, presence has been replaced by posts. “Checking in” has replaced checking on.
We’ve confused being connected with being close.
The writer of Hebrews understood something we’ve forgotten: encouragement requires presence. Real encouragement doesn’t happen in comment sections or emojis — it happens in shared moments, spoken words, and quiet prayers.
When we’re present with one another, something supernatural happens:
Hearts soften.
Faith strengthens.
Hope rises.
Loneliness breaks.
The enemy’s strategy has always been isolation, but God’s solution has always been incarnation — the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)
And now, as His people, we are called to dwell among one another — to be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus in each other’s lives.
You may never realize the eternal impact of showing up — but presence has always been God’s greatest gift to His people.
Reflection Questions:
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being present with me — not just in spirit but through Your people. Teach me to slow down, to be intentional, and to show up for others the way You always show up for me. Help me see every encounter as an opportunity to reveal Your presence. Amen.
Daily Practice:
Text or call someone you haven’t connected with in a while. But instead of just “checking in,” set up a time to meet in person or talk face-to-face. Ask how they’re really doing — and listen deeply.
