Scripture:
Exodus 34:6–7 – “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin…”
Devotional Thought:
Before we talk about God's patience with others, we need to remember His patience with us.
Think about your story—your pride, your rebellion, your inconsistencies, your failure to listen, your tendency to put other things before God.
And now think about this: He didn’t walk away. He didn’t give up.
He stayed. He waited. He called. He forgave.
God is not quick to punish.
He’s quick to forgive.
He’s rich in love.
And even when we were running, He was still pursuing.
We often ask, “Why hasn’t Jesus come back yet?” But maybe the better question is, “Where would I be if He had come before I truly repented?”
The patience you’ve received should humble you. And it should move you to show that same patience to others who haven’t figured it out yet.
Reflection Questions:
Prayer:
God, thank You for Your compassion. Thank You for not giving up on me when I was distant, distracted, or disobedient. Help me never forget how patient You’ve been. Let Your grace reshape the way I treat others. Let Your forgiveness overflow from my life into the lives around me. Amen.
