WHILE OUR WILDERNESS JOURNEY BEGAN IN SIN, IT IS FINISHED IN CHRIST.

Romans 5:18,19,21 - 18 Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. 19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Matthew 4:1 - Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.

THREE WILDERNESS TEMPTATIONS OF JESUS:

• SELF-PROVISION OVER GOD’S PROVISION (TEMPTATION OF BREAD)

• SELF-PRESERVATION OVER GOD’S PROTECTION (TESTING GOD'S POWER)

• SELF-ADVANCEMENT OVER GOD’S PLAN (DOUBTING GOD’S WILL)

LONG BEFORE WE STEP INTO GOD’S UNIQUE PURPOSE OR CALLING THE ENEMY WILL TEMPT US.

JESUS PERFECT RESISTANCE OF TEMPTATION MAKES HIM THE PERFECT SACRIFICE FOR OUR SALVATION.

Exodus 16:4 - I am going to rain bread from heaven for you.

John 6:32-35 - 32 Moses didn’t give you the bread from heaven, My Father gives you the real bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 Then they said, “Sir, give us this bread always!” 35 “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.

Matthew 14:15 - When evening came, the disciples approached Him and said, “This place is a wilderness...

Matthew 4:3 - Then the tempter approached Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Luke 22:19 - And {Jesus} took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

John 6:51 - I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live Forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

WE WILL ALWAYS FAIL AT TRYING TO BE OUR OWN SAVIOR.

John 6:35 - No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.

JESUS ENTERED INTO OUR WORLD, OUR WILDERNESS, OUR SIN—TO MEET US THERE AND TO LEAD US OUT.
