Exodus 14:21–22 - 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord drove the sea back with a powerful east wind all that night and turned the sea into dry land. So the waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with the waters like a wall to them on their right and their left.
Exodus 14:26-28 - 26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back on the Egyptians, on their chariots and horsemen.” 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea returned to its normal depth. While the Egyptians were trying to escape from it, the Lord threw them into the sea. 28 The waters came back and covered the chariots and horsemen, the entire army of Pharaoh, that had gone after them into the sea. None of them survived.
Exodus 15:1-3 – 1 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord. They said: I will sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted; He has thrown the horse and its rider into the sea. 2 The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. 3 The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is His name.
THE MOMENT WE REALIZE WE ARE TRULY FREE FROM OUR OPPRESSION --SIN, ADDICTION, FEAR, THE PAST-- WE REJOICE.
Joshua 3:14 & 17 -14 When the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carried the ark of the covenant ahead of the people. 17 The priests carrying the ark of the Lord’s covenant stood firmly on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel crossed on dry ground until the entire nation had finished crossing the Jordan.
BAPTISM ISN’T A DECISION YOU MAKE FOR SOMEONE ELSE, IT’S A DECISION YOU MAKE YOURSELF AFTER SURRENDERING TO GOD.
Matthew 3:13–17 - 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. 14 But John tried to stop Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?” 15 Jesus answered him, “Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him to be baptized. 16 After Jesus was baptized, He went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him. 17 And there came a voice from heaven: This is My beloved Son. I take delight in Him!
REASONS JESUS WAS BAPTIZED:
CONFIRM JOHN'S MINISTRY
CONFIRM JESUS DIVINITY
SYMBOLIZE JESUS DEATH & RESURRECTION
YOU CAN’T CHANGE WHAT YOU WON’T SURRENDER. AND YOU CAN’T GROW WITHOUT BEING CHALLENGED.
Romans 6:3–5 - All of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death. Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life. For if we have been joined with Him in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of His resurrection.
THE SPIRIT CANNOT DWELL WHERE UNSURRENDERED SIN STILL HOLDS DOMINION.
GOD DOESN’T DRAG DEAD MEN THROUGH THE WILDERNESS—HE SHAPES RESURRECTED MEN THERE.
JESUS SHOWS US THAT THERE IS NO RESURRECTION LIFE UNLESS SIN IS PUT TO DEATH.
