week 2 – abraham
OBEDIENCE IN THE WILDERNESS

Not every wilderness is the result of sin. Some wilderness seasons are the result of obedience. God didn’t drive Abraham into the wilderness—He called him into it.

Go… to the land I will show you.” No map. No timeline. No full explanation.

Just a call to leave what was familiar and step into the unknown.

This is a different kind of wilderness.

Not punishment—but purpose. Not wandering—but following.

Abraham’s journey shows us that the wilderness is often where God does His deepest work:

Calling you to go before you understand

Asking you to trust what you cannot yet see

Stretching your faith beyond your timeline

Requiring you to surrender what you value most

And through it all, revealing that He is faithful to provide.

The wilderness God sends you into will often feel: Unknown. Impossible. Sacrificial

And in those moments, two questions rise to the surface:
Will you follow? Will you surrender?

This week is about obedience. Not partial obedience. Not delayed obedience.

But trusting God enough to move when He calls, believe what He says, wait on His timing, and surrender whatever He asks. Because you will never feel settled if you are unwilling to go and unwilling to obey.

OBEDIENCE IN THE WILDERNESS

Train yourself to follow God into the unknown, trust His promises beyond what you see, wait on His timing, and surrender whatever He asks.

Move from hesitation to obedience, even when you don’t fully understand.

reminder #6 – obedience starts before understanding

Read Scripture: Genesis 12:1–4

(God calls Abram to leave everything familiar—his land, his people, his father’s house—and go to a place God will show him. Abram doesn’t know where he’s going, but he goes anyway.)

Reality: God rarely gives full clarity before calling for obedience. Abram was told to go—but not where, not how, and not what it would look like. The wilderness begins here—not with punishment, but with purpose. The first step of faith is often taken without full understanding. If you wait until everything makes sense, you will never move. God reveals direction as you walk, not before you start.

Response:

  • Where is God prompting you to move, but you’ve been waiting for more clarity?

  • What are you holding onto that is keeping you from stepping out?

  • Are you delaying obedience until it feels safe or certain?

Reaction:
Take one step of obedience today—don’t wait for full clarity. Release what God is asking you to leave behind. Move in the direction God has already made clear. Trust God with what you don’t yet understand.

Reinforcement: Hebrews 11:8 – “By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out… He went out, not knowing where he was going.”

YOU DON’T NEED FULL UNDERSTANDING TO TAKE THE FIRST STEP—YOU NEED FAITH.

2x2 Check:

Tell your 2x2 one step of obedience you are taking—even without full clarity.
