HOLY IN SPIRIT

Scripture

John 21:18–19 — “I assure you: When you were young, you would tie your belt and walk wherever you wanted. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will tie you and carry you where you don’t want to go.” He said this to signify by what kind of death he would glorify God. After saying this, He told him, “Follow Me!”

Luke 22:31–32 — “And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Slow Read (Called Again)

Read John 21:18–19 three times slowly.

  • First reading: Notice Jesus speaks about Peter’s future after failure.
  • Second reading: Notice following Jesus now includes surrender Peter once resisted.
  • Third reading: Sit with the command:
    “Follow Me.”

Remain silent for one full minute. Let the invitation feel personal.

Heart Questions

  • Where has Jesus already called me—but I hesitated or turned away?
  • Do I believe failure disqualifies me from following?
  • What might it look like for me to follow Jesus again today?

Let grace confront shame.

Spiritual Insight

The first time Jesus called Peter to follow Him, Peter left fishing nets behind. This time, Peter leaves behind something deeper—self-confidence. Before the cross, Peter promised loyalty but lacked surrender. After failure and repentance, Jesus calls him again. The command is the same, but Peter is different. Following Jesus now means going where he once refused to go—even toward suffering. Restoration does not erase calling; it deepens it. Jesus does not replace Peter after denial. He recommissions him. The assurance here is powerful: failure is not the end of discipleship. Turning back always leads to renewed calling. Every day we are invited to follow—not perfectly, but faithfully.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Thank You that Your call still stands even after my wandering.

You knew Peter would fail, and You still chose him.

You know my weakness, and You still call me.

Help me follow You again today— not by confidence in myself, but by trust in You.

Lead me wherever obedience requires.

Amen.

WHOLE IN MIND — Release the Past

Yesterday Does Not Lead Today

Take 2–3 minutes and reflect:

  • Is there a past failure still shaping how I see myself?
  • Have I quietly believed I missed my opportunity with God?
  • What would change if I believed Jesus still says, Follow Me?

Write this sentence:

“Jesus is calling me forward from __________.”

HEALTHY IN BODY — Walk Where You Resist

Peter once followed Jesus boldly when it was easy. Now he would follow when it was costly.

Today, practice physical obedience in a place you normally resist.

Choose one:

Resistance

Physical Step

Avoiding difficult responsibility

Complete the task first

Avoiding reconciliation

Initiate contact

Comfort-driven routine

Choose discipline instead

Spiritual procrastination

Set immediate prayer time

Isolation

Engage community intentionally

Do the thing you’ve been postponing.

As you act, pray: “I follow You—even here.”

Closing Posture

Jesus did not ask Peter to prove himself.

He simply said: Follow Me.

And He says it again today.
