HOLY IN SPIRIT

Scripture

John 21:15–17 — When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.”

“Feed My lambs,” He told him.

A second time He asked him, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.”

“Shepherd My sheep,” He told him.

He asked him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?”

Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?”

“Lord, You know everything! You know that I love You.”

“Feed My sheep,” Jesus said.

Slow Read (Love & Restoration)

Read John 21:15–17 three times slowly.

  • First reading: Notice Jesus restores Peter where he failed.
  • Second reading: Notice every declaration of love leads to responsibility.
  • Third reading: Sit with this phrase: “Feed My sheep.”

Remain silent for one full minute. Let restoration settle deeper than regret.

Heart Questions

  • Do I believe Jesus truly restores after failure?
  • Have I accepted forgiveness but resisted responsibility?
  • Is my love for Jesus expressed only in words—or in care for others?

Let the Spirit connect love with calling.

Spiritual Insight

Peter denied Jesus three times beside a fire. Now beside another fire, Jesus restores him three times. Restoration is intentional. Jesus does not merely forgive Peter—He recommissions him. Each affirmation of love becomes a calling: Feed. Shepherd. Care. Discipleship does not end with personal restoration; it begins there. The progression of following Jesus always moves outward. Follow becomes feed. Belief becomes strengthening others. Spiritual maturity is revealed when faith no longer centers on personal growth alone but begins nourishing others. Jesus restores Peter not to comfort, but to purpose. Love for Christ naturally produces care for His people.

Prayer

Jesus,

You know my failures and weaknesses.

You know where I have turned away.

Thank You for restoring me again and again.

Teach me that forgiveness is not the finish line—

it is the beginning of calling.

If I love You,

show me who I am meant to feed, strengthen, and serve.

Shape my love into action.

Amen.

WHOLE IN MIND — Progression Awareness

Love That Moves

Take 2–3 minutes and reflect:

  • Where has my faith focused mostly on my growth?
  • Who has helped strengthen me spiritually?
  • Who might God now be asking me to strengthen?

Write one name: “God may be calling me to help feed…”

HEALTHY IN BODY — Move Toward Someone

Following Jesus eventually requires movement toward people, not away from them.

Today, take one physical step toward spiritual investment.

Choose one:

Passive Pattern

Discipleship Action

Waiting to be approached

Initiate conversation

Staying isolated

Sit with someone intentionally

Consuming church only

Volunteer or assist

Encouragement withheld

Speak affirmation aloud

Spiritual independence

Invite accountability

As you act, pray:

“Jesus, help me care for what You care for.”

Closing Posture

Peter failed. Peter repented. Peter was restored.

Then Jesus said: Feed others.

Following Jesus was never meant to stop with you.
